BREAKING: Victim’s father arrested in murder of Houston lesbian couple

                  James Larry Cosby

March 13, 2014

In a shocking development, authorities have arrested the father of one of the victims in connection with the murder of a lesbian couple whose bodies were dumped near Galveston last week. The Houston Chroniclereports:

James Larry Cosby, 46, of Houston, is charged with two counts of tampering with evidence in the deaths of his daughter, Britney Cosby, and Crystal Jackson, according to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office. Both women were 24.

Deputies said Cosby is in the Galveston County jail in lieu of $500,000 bail. Charges against him, deputies added, may be upgraded to capital murder as the investigation continues.

Deputies did not release information they believe may link James Cosby to the deaths.

Cosby and Jackson had been together for about two years, and Jackson was the mother of a 5-year-old. A spokesman for the Galveston County sheriff’s officesaid Tuesday he could not rule out anti-gay bias as a possible motive for the crime. A message left with the sheriff’s office Thursday afternoon wasn’t immediately returned.

According to KTRK, James Cosby had attended a vigil for the two women on Wednesday night in Houston.

“You can’t really put something like this into words,” Cosby said at the vigil.

Selena Tribute Events Bars Transgender Impersonator – “Nobody wants to see a male person dress up like a girl”

image

CORPUS CHRISTI – Denied the chance to perform, because she’s a transgender woman. That’s what one woman claims she was told when she tried to pay tribute to Tejano superstar Selena at an upcoming event.

Honey Andrews lip-syncing wasn’t the problem, she says the fact she was born a man was. For the last 9 years Andrews considered herself a transgender woman, making the surgical switch from man to woman.

She’s got the looks and nails Cumbia, but this Selena impersonator recently was turned down the opportunity to perform in honor of her idol. She claims its because she once was a man.

“I already have enough, I have to go across all of the obstacles and for him to throw that in there, I just felt it was unfair,” says Honey Andrews, a transgender Selena impersonator

She’s performed at a Selena tribute for the last three years. With another tribute happening this year, she wanted to be involved in both. And that was the plan until she received a message last night from the coordinator, Mario Gomez:
“Sorry to inform you but Sunday’s tribute is booked.”
“Nobody wants to see a male person dress up like a girl”

“I had to read it like three times to so I could even get it through. You know? Understand. Oh my God I can’t believe. You know, I am over here try to do something good. Do something for Selena. I am sure she would not approve of something like that,” says Andrews.

Gomez explained over phone the messages sent to Andrews wasn’t worded poorly. The “nobody wants to see a male person dress up like a girl” were remarks said after her performance last year by audience members

“People complained to me that they don’t like, and uh. I guess. I just told him that uh. You know. I don’t know why I said that. Just uh letting him know that people were complaining to me that you know that they didn’t want to see someone dressed up as a female. A male dressed up as a female singing,” says Gomez over the phone.

“Getting into this business I knew I was going to come across people that were like they weren’t going to like me all the time. You know what I mean? It just so happens he’s one of them,” says Andrews.

Gomez Wednesday afternoon Gomez offered the chance to Andrews to perform at his event. He says she will perform at the event, but Andrews tells Action 10 News over the phone she’s definitely not.

Miley Cyrus Wraps Herself In A Gay-Pride Flag Onstage ‘Cause We Can Love Who We Want To!

image

Miley Cyrus isn’t playing when it comes to that “We Can’t Stop” lyric: “We can love who we want to!” At the Mar. 6 “Bangerz Tour” stop in Omaha, the avid supporter of gay rightsbrought that message to the forefront, wrapping herself in a rainbow Pride flag. #OneSingleTear #JK #AllTheTears

This photo of the “Adore You” singer, taken by Twitter user @omarmv, is giving us all kinds of feels. It’s like she’s symbolically wrapping her arms around the entire LGBTQ community, warming us up with her Mileybird love.

From kissing a fan (and kissing Katy Perry) to getting that gay rights-inspired equal-sign tattoo, we love how Miley treats human sexuality as something totally non-taboo — even saying that she’s “a little gay” in concert. Here, here! Though, we think a certain wise philosopher by the name of Honey Boo Boo said it best.

Navy Rape Survivor’s Message to Bullied Kids Around the World

image

Jose Antonio Rodriguez is a U.S. Navy Veteran who was discriminated by ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell‘ after his sexual orientation was discovered following being drugged, kidnapped, and brutally raped. Rodriguez has since become an outspoken advocate against hate crimes, teen bullying and wants to send a message to bullied teens around the World.

Teens Worldwide:
I know it may be tough to be a young person. I know it’s hard to have to hide your true essence and live a happy childhood and be who you really are. I understand it’s hard to have to hide in front of family and friends as you grow up to be the man or woman God brought into this world. I ask you to keep faith and not give in to all the bullying and harassment.

I was once just like you, and felt the pain and mental anguish of hiding who I really was, bullied by my peers for being “different”.

I was raped by a group of men in June 2009 while I was still in the Navy. My fellow sailors then perceived me to be gay, and harassed me because of the rape at the hands of other men. They were right – I was a gay man, yet I did not deserve to be treated in a hateful manner. But I stood strong and I am winning the battle now. I ask you to do the same.

I understand how you feel, but I beg you to please not give up. Please stand strong and BE WHO YOU WANT TO BE. You are all God’s children and he loves us all!! You are beautiful to everyone. We are not different and we are all human. We all are created different and a little more special, because God made us special, with love, and with love to give. You are beautiful in my eyes and everyone’s eyes. LIVE WITH PRIDE AND LIVE IN YOUR TRUE ESSENCE! I love you all, and please don’t give up. You are the ones coming up in the world and we need a strong generation for years to come. We are not weak. So please, be patient and stand up with pride and fight for your equality!

Sincerely,
US Navy Veteran
Jose A. Rodriguez

Men become first gay couple to marry in Ciudad Juarez

image

Thursday February 13, 2014 was a historic day for civil rights in Ciudad Juarez.

A gay couple was able to get legally married after getting a federal protection order.

Eduardo Piñón and Julio Salazar needed the federal order because the Chihuahua State constitution defines marriage as the union of a man and a woman.

It is the first gay marriage in Juarez and only the second in the state of Chihuahua.

LGBT VETERAN TWEETS RE: MICHAEL SAM. “You will receive hate messages. You will be bullied.”

N.F.L. Prospect Michael Sam Proudly Says What Teammates Knew: He’s Gay

Michael Sam, a bruising defensive end on one of 2013’s most surprising college football teams, announced Sunday he is gay.

He didn’t back into the revelation or simply hint at it. The Missouri defender and the Associated Press’s SEC co-defensive player of the year said it, owned it, and now stands at the fringe of one of sports’ last social frontiers: becoming the first openly gay NFL player.

“I am an openly proud gay man,” Sam, 24, was quoted as saying in reports posted Sunday by ESPN and the New York Times.

“Now you can play the game you love with all heart. In your true essence!

Jose has since become a loud voice for the lgbt community especially service members and teens who are bullied because of who they are.
“You will receive hate messages. You will be bullied. Ignore and play the game with all heart and courage because that’s what you have! It took heart and courage to do what you have done. Hopefully more will follow.”

Thanksgiving in Van Horn TX

image

The Reyes, Rodriguez and Fodge Thanksgiving family gathering in Van Horn TX.

It starts with the family. The ones who could make it and hearing from the ones who couldn’t through phone calls and facebook. Playing with the kids so they know who you are as they grow up. All very exciting. Cooking night before and catching up with family. Going home at 1am and resting for the Thanksgiving gathering next day. Arriving early to finish up cooking and saying a prayer while holding hands. Sitting and laughing as we serve eachother. Best part was going around table and saying something were thankful of. Some smiles and some tears. We were all just glad to have been together. Watching football is never a miss on thanksgiving.
The celebration is not over on the day of thanks. We will celebrate and be thankful for the rest of weekend.
The REYES, RODRIGUEZ, and FODGE family wishes everyone a happy thanksgiving and happy holidays. Hope everyone spents them well.
